- Origin: Shizuoka, Japan
- Cultivar: Blend
- Stimulation: High
- Terroir: Honyama
Amagiri is a quality Japanese matcha made purely from the spring harvest. It offers a high level of stimulation along with a significant boost in concentration. The flavor is intense with a light hint of nuttiness, finished with a subtle sweet tone. The leaves come exclusively from naturally cultivated plantations in Shizuoka.
An ideal choice if you're just starting out with matcha and your main goal is energy and stimulation. The ratio of caffeine to L-theanine in Amagiri Matcha favors caffeine, so the stimulating effect is higher here than in pricier matcha varieties such as Sae, Kiwami, and Zen, which offer a stronger relaxing and meditative effect.
The most suitable preparation is classic usucha, also well suited for a luxurious matcha latte. This matcha is good enough to drink on its own, so there's no real need to mask its flavor with additives. However, if you practice matcha or tea ceremony at a more advanced level, we'd like to point your attention to Matcha Sae.
Amagiri comes from the Honyama region, renowned for the quality of its teas since the era of the shoguns.
