In the taste, there is a pleasantly light "milkness", which is more common in quality oolongs, and when rolling on the tongue you will find notes of lilac and a fresh bittersweet aftertaste.
Okuhikari is a cross between the most popular Yabukita cultivar and the Chinese Shizu Cy225. The plants grow more slowly than Yabukita and require more care and protection from inclement weather, but produce a bountiful harvest. Okuhikari was officially registered in 1987.
