Black tea is a rarity in Japan, and this Koucha is so far the pinnacle of our search. Growing black tea is not common practice in Japan, but thanks to the friendship between Mr Kinezuka and his schoolmate living in Ceylon, the know-how for producing outstanding black tea found its way into the hands of the Kinezuka family. With each successive harvest, one can only admire their excellent work. Years ago, Koucha Kinezuka was a good black tea that we imported mainly as a curiosity. Today it is an outstanding koucha, whose delightful and intriguing tones have earned it a permanent place in our offering.
A tea whose warming tones and honey aroma will transport you to a sun-drenched tea plantation even in the depths of winter
Once again we find ourselves agreeing with Mr Kinezuka, who used to say that the first half of a tea's flavour comes from the soil, and the second half from the heart the farmer puts into it.
