A beautiful chawan from Kyoto
At first glance, it captivates with the delicate beauty of the Mishima technique, in which floral motifs are stamped into the raw glaze, filled with color, and coated again with a transparent glaze. The result is a beautiful decoration with typically Japanese elegance.
This originally Korean inlay technique reached Japan in the 16th century and, in the hands of Japanese potters, was transformed into an art form.
