Unique oolong by tea master Zuo Ruyu

This exceptional oolong comes from the hands of Ms. Zuo Ruyu – a tea master with over fifty years of experience, who has dedicated her entire life to tea and to harmony through Buddhism.

The leaves were harvested in 2023 in the I-Lan region of northeastern Taiwan, from a tea garden situated at 800 meters above sea level. This tea is well-suited for aging – with time, it will continue to develop and reveal deeper complexity.

What makes this tea truly remarkable is its origin: Ms. Zuo developed this specific cultivar over more than seven years in collaboration with the Taiwanese Tea Research and Extension Station (TRES). It is a unique cross between a Darjeeling cultivar and Chinese Fenghuang Dan Cong, which was then grown wild in the mountainous wilderness of Taiwan. The result is a tea unlike any other.

The dry leaves are expertly crafted, full of bright, fluffy tips. Their aroma is fresh, sweet, and fruity. Once infused, the fragrance opens into an intense bouquet of mountain peach, ripe pear, alpine flowers, wildflower honey, and a soft but distinctive note reminiscent of Dan Cong oolong.

The flavor profile is just as exceptional as the aroma – a bright, fresh, mineral infusion full of peachy notes, delicate honey sweetness, and a refined texture. It is difficult to compare this tea to anything else – Zuo Ruyu I-Lan Oolong is truly one of a kind.

This tea is offered in a 25g Miron violet glass jar, which is ideal for further aging of this rare masterpiece. After you finish the tea, the jar can continue to serve for storing the finest teas in your collection.

Brewing (Gong Fu Cha, 100–120 ml):

Use 3–4 grams of tea, with water at 90–95°C. First infusion: 20 seconds. For infusions 2–7, steep for a maximum of 15 seconds – pour almost immediately. You may extend the steeping time toward the end. The tea yields up to 8 infusions, and with careful brewing, possibly more. Avoid long steeping – treat this tea as you would a Dan Cong.
