Houjicha
Houjicha is a roasted Japanese green tea. It is made from tea leaves (often bancha or kukicha stems) that are roasted at high temperatures. This process gives the tea its characteristic caramel-nutty flavor. A high-quality houjicha brew has a dark amber hue, is smooth, and almost free of bitterness. Due to the roasting, houjicha contains less caffeine than regular green teas, making it suitable for children or evening consumption. In Japan, it is popular as a tea to accompany meals or as a post-meal drink to aid digestion.
